I just came across that great lighting showreel this morning by Eduardo Martin Julve.
He worked on Ilion’s “Planet 51″ from which you can see some really really cool shots. I hope Planet 51 has been animated like this throughout.

Hi Olivier!!!
yeah, Eduardo did an awesome job… he is a terrific lighter, and a great guy!
ah.. and regarding the animation, I can only tell you that those shots in Edu’s reel were the first that we animated in the production of “Planet51″, almost two years ago.
I hope you’ll like the movie!

Hey Pako, yes I look forward to watching it. I am really digging the characters, environments, renderings and definitely the animation.
Question for you, I know it was animated in Max but did you use Character Studio for the feature?
You could also update your blog one day ;-)
Yes, we use Max, but with custom made rigs and a bunch of in-house tools and scripts, no Character Studio involved at all.
I know, I haven’t updated my webpage… but now that all the animation of “Planet51″ is done I might give it a facelift :-D
