oh yeah DMCA, you want to leave the computer do as little work as possible. Animators like to say that the computer is the worst inbetweener.

At work here at “2 minutes”, I have two animators who only animate hands and spine in IK. This pretty much requires to animate on Ones. I also did some work at Rare where I animated on Ones at 60 fps but that was a bit insane ;-)

I would imagine this but just to be sure, so its adding inbteewns by himself not leaving any work to the computer..thats great..
it’s an amaizing shot, isn’t. must be hard work on 20 sec for 32 days, respect.

hehe yeah Michael might know better than I do what Jeff means ;-)

I would have said this is when you go from blocking to “blocking +” like we say at Animation Mentor or IP for Pixar(In Progress).

One thing that doesn’t come across clearly in that video is the preparation and constant feedback with the director. Before going into blocking and Blocking +, I am pretty sure Jeff explained to his director using thumbnails or video references where he wanted to go with the shot from day1. I don’t think an animator would work for 10 days before showing his work to anyone.

“defining transitions” means he’s working on the inbetweening between the main story telling poses.

what does he mean for “defining transitions”, day 9. Just before he gets the blocking approved.
